Expert-led panel discussions at VetCon 201914 May 2019
Each of the small animal, farm animal and veterinary business streams will feature expert panel discussion sessions, chaired by eminent speakers. These sessions are sure to attract positive audience interaction and generate engaging debate and comment.
Thursday’s small animal stream specialist panel discussion, on the pragmatic approach to the down dog, will be chaired by Laura Cuddy, Veterinary Specialists Ireland. Joining the panel will be Sheila Brennan, Gilabbey Veterinary Hospital, Rita Goncalves, University of Liverpool, Micheál Ó Cathasaigh, Dick White Referrals, and Aoife O Sullivan, VetsNow. With the specialist opinions of a surgeon, internal medic, neurologist, radiologist, and emergency and critical care, the audience are sure to be well informed on the approach they should take with their next ‘down dog’.
Delegates attending on Friday will have the opportunity to listen and engage with two expert-led panel discussions. Session three of the business stream, beginning at 2.30pm, will be an interactive Q&A format discussion led by Mark Butler, HLB Sheehan Quinn. The experienced practitioner panel will feature Charles Cosgrave, Village Vets, Seamus McManus, VetMac, Clare Meade, The Cat Hospital, and Michael Sexton, Riverview Veterinary Group. Expect to learn the most valuable strategies in growing and improving your practice in an increasingly competitive business environment.
The farm stream panel discussion will attract great interest. Starting at 5pm, Tommy Heffernan, Irish Farmers Journal, will chair the discussion on the key veterinary inputs for sustainable agriculture in Ireland. This discussion is sure to expand further on Tommy’s lecture earlier in the day – “Are farm animal vets on the wrong side of history?”. On the panel are Donagh Berry, Teagasc/VistaMilk, Catherine Carty, UCD, and Shane McAuliffe, McAuliffe Pig Farms.
