On Thursday 28th April at VetCon there will be an engaging and stimulating farm animal CPD programme.

Delivered by world-class speakers, specialists and experts travelling from across Ireland and the UK, the farm animal stream at VetCon 2022 will deliver the practical applications of evidence-based veterinary medicine in a wide variety of relevant farm animal veterinary settings.

The farm animal lectures will improve the practical knowledge and skills of farm and mixed animal practice vets.

A first for farm veterinary CPD - dairy and tillage farmer, and chairman of AgriAware, Alan Jagoe, will speak. Alan will give delegates his take on CAP reform, the challenges facing farmers in 2022, and how he sees the role of veterinary practitioners in helping farmers strive towards more sustainable food production.

Topics in the farm animal stream include:

  • Bovine herd health and antimicrobials (Speaker – John Remnant)
  • Embryo transfer in cows, sexed semen, improving genetic gain (Speaker - Stephen Butler)
  • Bovine TB - the PVPs role in protecting cattle and farmers (Speaker -Eoin Ryan, DAFM)
  • Recruiting farm vets in rural veterinary practice (Speaker – John Remnant)
  • Farming in 2022 (Speaker - Alan Jagoe)
  • Lameness in cattle - new understandings and concepts (Speaker – John Remnant)
