London Vet Show 2018 Report

This week saw many veterinary professionals and veterinary industry members from across the UK, Ireland and Europe attend London Vet Show 2018 at the ExCel London.  This is a trade show and conference like no other. Large crowds are drawn to this event every year by a choice of lectures across veterinary disciplines for vets and nurses to attend; the largest trade show in the UK; small group CPD sessions; and opportunity to network and socialise with friends and colleagues.

All the large well-known animal health companies were represented at LVS 2018.  Each had fantastically inventive, informative, and interactive stands to attract delegates and engage their interest on new or updated products.  Many had great prizes up for grabs and others even served barista-style coffee – just what was needed to start each morning of the show!

Lecture topics across the various streams were varied. Despite this, many of the farm animal lectures lacked appealing or interesting content.  Interestingly, across the small animal streams, there was little emphasis on dermatology topics, despite dermatological cases representing a significant proportion of first opinion practice caseload.  Even though there are farm and equine lectures at LVS, many of the animal health companies focus solely on showcasing their range of small animal products for the show.

LVS 2018 provided a great opportunity for VetCon Ireland to meet existing and future VetCon 2019 exhibitors and partners.  We look forward to welcoming new faces to VetCon 2019 – the largest veterinary trade show and conference in Ireland.
