The Final Countdown to VetCon 2018

Lanyards and name tags are ready, the proceedings books are fresh off the press, the delegate bags are packed, and the exhibition is awaiting the arrival of eager vets and vet nurses to get VetCon 2018 started!

After months of preparation, VetCon 2018 will kick off this Friday morning at Fota Island Resort, Cork. Delegates will be welcomed into the exhibition hall by the smell of freshly brewed coffee, tea and breakfast to start their day before lectures begin at 9.30.

Opening the vet stream at VetCon 2018 will be Kathryn Cuddy, director of VetCon Ireland and veterinary dermatologist with Skinvet Ireland.  Skinvet Ireland, established by Kathryn in 2015, is an ambulatory referral dermatology service for vets and pets across the island of Ireland. Kathryn will present the latest updates on a number of topical issues in veterinary dermatology that vets face commonly in practice.

The nursing stream will begin with Louise O’ Dwyer, who will discuss her views on important, practical and relevant techniques in analgesia and anaesthesia in small animal patients.  Louise is Clinical Support Manager with VetsNow in the UK and President-Elect of the Academy of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Technicians.  Louise has flown in to Cork especially to speak at VetCon 2018.

Throughout the day, delegates will be able to enjoy the trade exhibition at VetCon 2018.  Many of the stands will be running competitions throughout the day.  In particular, if delegates complete their VetCon Passport by collecting a stamp at each stand, they can enter a draw to win a FitBit!

There are 25 stands to visit at VetCon 2018. These include stands from the gold sponsors of VetCon 2018 - Elanco, MSD Animal Health, and Boehringer Ingelheim - as well as many others from across the veterinary industry.  Delegates will have a busy day between lecture sessions networking with stand holders and completing their VetCon Passports!
